Description

Orfordness 5895 is of a site used for environmental testing of Atomic Weapons, reflecting Atkins’ engagement with terrains redolent of hidden states. Landscapes at once elegant and desolate, these images are of that located below the surface of immediate visibility, of subjective states, of the field of the invisible

Orford Ness, located on the Suffolk coast of east England, was used for environmental testing of Atomic Weapons up until the 1970's and for intense military experimentation for over 70 years up until the mid 1980's.
