Transient States
In 1992, when living and working in North America, I took a solo journey by car from New York City to San Francisco, California. The crossing from coast to coast took me seven days, driving almost continually from dawn to dusk, stopping only in the evening, where I would pull into some quiet town, find a motel, eat supper and sleep, dreaming monochrome dreams of horizons, boundless roads, and great vistas of a shadowless land. Finally after over thirty years, I dug out the photographs from their begrimed archived box and, seeing the images anew, I found them alive, evocative, even moving, and thought, these are now ready to be hung on walls and seen.
